The trio — Petit Solo Diabaté (kora, ngoni, balafon), Nino Martella (percussions, ngoni), and Marco Schiavone (cello) — shapes a soundscape where African traditions meet the sensibilities of contemporary European music, in a balance that is constantly shifting, breathing, and alive. The strings of the kora and ngoni weave luminous, hypnotic patterns that find in Schiavone’s cello a deep, lyrical, sometimes restless voice. Martella’s kamale ngoni and percussion ground and propel the music, oscillating between ritual pulse and intimate detail, building bridges that unite the trio’s distinct sonic worlds. The sound of Crossing rises from deep listening rather than fusion: each instrument keeps its own identity, yet allows itself to be transformed through dialogue with the others.
